RNCCA Reunion 2022 Update

The RNCCA annual reunion 2022 (AR22) is nearly upon us and we need a minimum number of 40 to secure our booking at the reasonable prices published.  The total reserved so far is 25 and we have until 8th July to hit the magic number of 40.

So… if you wish to attend can you please follow one of the links below to make your booking, but if you want to delay making the booking and have every intention of attending please let me know by return e-mail.

The AR22 weekend of 16th to 19th September is at the Hull Humber View Hotel and it includes all the normal good stuff (tot time, happy hour, live entertainment, gala dinner, trips, raffle, AGM plus an outstanding view of the Humber Bridge).  Please visit our website and view the flyer for the detail.

We are really looking forward to meeting up with everyone again as it now seems a long time since 2019

Crossed the Bar – Ex CRS Mick Puttick – Membership No: 390 and previous long standing Committee Member

My sad duty to report the passing of 390 CRS Mick Puttick (long serving member of the RNCCA Committee until recently).

Our thoughts and prayer are with all the family and friends at this sad time.

(Please contact Mark Rutley (Honsec) if you wish to attend (see below)).

Update 7th May 2022 – If you are attending the funeral please avoid wearing dark clothing

The service will be in Havant at:

The Oaks Crematorium

Barton’s Rd, Havant PO9 5NA
Thursday 12th May at 1515
The family will be pleased to see you there and afterwards  at:
The Churchillian
Portsdown Hill Rd, Cosham, Portsmouth PO6 3LS.

The family have indicated Family flowers only and the order of service will advise of Charitable donations.
Alison is hoping that those who are able, might come along and perhaps relate anecdotes about Mick’s exploits. She wants to celebrate his life and to talk about happier times.
Most importantly, the family need to know of numbers attending in order to cater accordingly.  To that end, can anyone able to attend please let ME know and I will collate numbers and relay them to Alison and family.
She has also stressed that the Service ‘Window’ at The Oaks is a fairly tight one and attendees are requested to come a little early rather than late.

Request for Information

CRS Brian “Joe” Poole

Brian sadly died in Malawi in 2017 and his wife Janet who is an ex WREN RNR knows little of his Naval Service.

His good friend Bill Mahoney has put together a little of his service career and is keen to get in touch with

anyone that knew Brian.

“Brian Joseph Poole, known as ‘Joe’ started his career as a ‘Boy Tel’ at HMS Ganges in 1953. His first ship was the carrier HMS Ark Royal. He later served at Kranji Wireless in Singapore, Mauritius, in submarines and, latterly, HMS Fearless.

One of his shipmates from Fearless is also asking for any information in order to assemble a tribute as he was a pupil of Joe’s in the Communications Branch.

Brian retired from the RN in 1978 as a Chief Radio Supervisor. Sadly, he died in Malawi in 2017.

If anyone who served with ‘Joe’ can shed any light on any of his service in the intervening years between him qualifying as a Telegraphist to his retirement it will be greatly appreciated by his widow Janet”.

If anyone can help out please contact the Hon Sec via the normal channels.
