  1. So dreadfully sad to read of Ken’s passing. Although younger than me, Ken and I, prior to joining the Navy attended the same secondary school, Prince Henry’s Grammar School at that time still a Grammar School, in the lovely Yorkshire Dales town of OTLEY. He joined the Navy in the same Wireless Telegraphy Branch and in that Branch, we were both promoted to the WO1 rate, me to FCRS and Ken to WORS. He followed me on to FO2’s staff at the end of Group 6 deployment. A gregarious, popular and well liked man with many friends, he and his dear wife Mary were avid supporters of the RNCCA, indeed of many Naval Associations, and his passing will be a great and sad loss. R.I.P. dear friend and townie, and love to dear Mary in your sad loss. Yours Godfrey [aka Jeff] Dykes [730]. xx

  2. Following your communication regarding the rcent questionaire, i decided to log in and have a look at the
website. I was rather surprised to be logged in as “Wally”, i never was and never will answer to Wally. I was
always known as “Joe” or Joseph. I would be obliged if you could amend the greeting on logging in. One point,
i am delighted to see that Jeff Dykes FCRS is still going strong and actively involved in things. He and I spend long hours together in Mercury swotting to achieve the status of RCI.
Best regards to anyone who still remembers me

    1. Hi Joe – just found your comments in regards to a questionnaire in which you were kind enough to mention me and the work we put in in 1969 for our two stars, now for the long time a defunct additional qualification for which, as you will recall, we were paid and extra 1 shilling per day instructor’s pay. Wow what heady days?
Good to see you have had a peep of the RNCCA WEBSITE, and dare I SAY, WELCOME ABOARD. I TRUST YOU ARE WELL
and I should imagine long time retired now, and quite recently, enjoying the huge 10.1% uplift on your pussers pension: better in your pocket instead of the Chancellors safe I always say. I am in that stead [retired that is] and just coming up to my 85 next month, and now living in Surrey. Hope you are well and that life is treating you kindly? My email address is godfreydykes@outlook.com, Godfrey being my proper Christian name whereas Jeff is a navy name long held from Ganges days IN 1953.

      Best regards
      Jeff
